Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna, has arrived at the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja for grilling.
A group of the ex-governor’s supporters had also arrived at the anti-graft agency premises alongside the minister. Some anti el-Rufai supporters were also in the facility.
However, the protesters were met with teargas canisters.
The EFCC is investigating el-Rufai over alleged mismanagement of public funds during his stint as Kaduna governor
Last Thursday, there was mild drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, when security operatives attempted to arrest el-Rufai as he touched down from Cairo, the capital of Egypt.
El-Rufai would later allege that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) asked officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) to arrest him upon arrival.
